Abstract

The hospitality industry is adopting sustainable approaches to manage high energy usage, massive water usage, and waste generation challenges. The impetus driving this trend is primarily rooted in integrating green technologies that reduce the environmental footprint of hotel operations and offer substantial financial and reputational benefits. This paper discusses green technology innovations, such as energy management systems, water conservation technologies, waste reduction solutions, and operational efficiency with artificial intelligence, that can ensure and enhance hospitality sustainability. To that end, it provides some practical recommendations about integrating green technologies in small, medium, and large-scale operations to meet the heterogeneous needs and resources facing each kind of hotel. Finally, it takes a peek at new technologies such as carbon capture, biophilic design, and blockchain, which are closer to changing the concept of sustainability in the hospitality industry in the future.
