Abstract
Aiming to enhance quality & efficiency with minimization of waste in business processes, Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is preferred methodology along with implementation of emerging industry 4.0 technologies. This chapter studies such technologies to comprehend how they can improve LSS processes through real-time data acquisition, intelligent decision-making, increased process automation, and improved transparency. Through real-world cases, the chapter demonstrates benefits of I4.0 technologies in terms of expediting processes, reducing costs & enhancing operational performance. Also, discussed are imminent innovations such as edge computing and digital twins, which provide insight into how Lean Six Sigma will evolve in context of Industry 4.0. This chapter concludes by recommending to researchers, practitioners, and corporate executives on how to leverage I4.0 to enhance productivity and decision-making in LSS processes. This chapter is intended for academics, researchers, practitioners, and leaders working in domains of digital transformation and operations management.
