Lean Six Sigma and Generative AI Large Language Models
Abstract
This chapter discusses the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Large Language Models (LLMs) in the practice of Lean Six Sigma. Since the launch of LLMs applications (such as Open AI's ChatGPT, Microsoft's Copilot and Google's Gemini) and others available on an open-source basis, in the past couple of years, these Generative AI models have already had an impact on Lean Six Sigma practice. The objective of this chapter is to discuss how they can be applied in Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques, what the implications of their uses are, from the perspective of Lean Six Sigma professionals, and the implications for the overall organisation's Lean Six Sigma deployment and sustainability. Limitations and concerns related to their use in Lean Six Sigma practice are also discussed, together with an agenda for further research.
