Abstract
he integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies with smart grid infrastructure offers transformative potential for real-time ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting in the energy sector. This chapter presents a unified business intelligence framework that combines IoT-enabled smart grid analytics with ESG metrics to support ongoing environmental impact evaluation. Unlike traditional ESG reporting that depends on delayed, historical data, the proposed approach utilizes real-time data from advanced metering systems, environmental sensors, and predictive analytics. By incorporating machine learning and dynamic visualization, this system enables improved transparency, operational efficiency, and risk anticipation. Case studies illustrate enhanced carbon tracking, better energy optimization, and strengthened regulatory adherence. Overall, the framework advances sustainable business intelligence by providing actionable strategies and evaluation tools tailored for ESG performance in smart grids.
