Exploring Thiazoline, Thiophane, and Thiazole Advances in Sulphur-Based Heterocyclic Compounds
Abstract
Sulphur-containing heterocycles, including thiazoline, thiophane, and thiazole, have garnered significant attention in medicinal chemistry due to their diverse biological activities and crucial roles in the biosynthesis of essential compounds. This review highlights the pivotal roles of these sulfur-containing heterocycles' structural diversity and biological significance. The synthesis section delves into the methods and mechanisms behind the formation of these heterocycles. Thiazoline plays essential role in the biosynthesis of thiamine (vitamin B1) and is synthesized in living organisms. Thiophane is a key structural motif in various biologically active natural products, while thiazole is widely prevalent in antimicrobial peptides and antibiotics. The biological evaluation aspect explores the diverse pharmacological activities of these compounds. Thus, the chapter features insights into synthesis and biological activities of these moieties, provides a valuable resource for researchers in medicinal chemistry and chemical biology.
