Enhancing Leadership and Organisational Processes: Trust in Virtual Negotiations
Abstract
Virtual discussions are increasingly common in the corporate world, requiring effective communication and leadership to build trust. This article explores strategies for enhancing leadership and fostering trust in virtual negotiations. Techniques used include direct observation, interviews with negotiators, analysis of virtual conversations, and monitoring a company's virtual negotiations over 5 years. The study highlights that trust in remote negotiations is shaped by leadership behaviours like clear direction, active listening, and team cohesion. Additionally, strategies such as selecting suitable communication methods, providing multiple contact options, ensuring high-quality connections, and maintaining an organized, disruption-free environment are crucial. This article offers valuable insights for academics, negotiators, and leaders, presenting practical approaches that integrate leadership with trust-building in virtual negotiations.
