Early Childhood Education Environments in Deaf Education
Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the importance of early childhood education environments within deaf education. The readers will gain an understanding of the importance of the environment on the whole child and their development, including their emotional, physical, social, and academic development. The ECE environment is much more than just where to place the furniture or the learning materials. The readers will be challenged to examine the learning environment from an inclusive and critical perspective. There are application activities and suggestions embedded throughout the chapter for personalization and to help the reader take the next steps in creating accessible, engaging environments.
