Abstract

Since many consumers are worried about the ecological footprint of their purchasing decisions today, “green-washing” has only emerged as an even more pronounced phenomenon. It is nothing but just a misleading which defames the original initiative of making our environment sustainable. Consumer Protection Consumer protection laws and regulations are created to guarantee the rights of consumers in a market, as well provide access to transparency. It shows that fighting greenwashing calls for all stakeholders, from policy makers to companies and civil society organizations. The reliance of industry on voluntary measures to report performance means that transparency is a function of media campaigns, third-party certification and similar levels in accountability. The analytical angle of judicial enforcement is applied and ridicule out the rest as to base-case strategy that requires some legal reform in conjunction with existing consumer protection on which focus has been made under this chapter, conversely green washing mitigation.
