Abstract

This research uses qualitative research methods to assess professional competencies in educational leadership, explicitly focusing on higher education institutions. Understanding the sophisticated skills that academic leaders need as leadership roles adapt to the greater demands for accountability, creativity, and diversity has become more critical. This research uses interviews, focus groups, and document analysis to explore how educational leaders view, develop, and enact critical professional attributes, including research acumen, emotional intelligence, technical skills, ongoing learning, and socio-cultural sensitivity. This study employed descriptive and inferential statistical analysis to examine academic administrators' professional skills, leadership styles, and management competencies in institutions of higher learning. These results emphasize the importance of targeted professional development to facilitate ongoing improvement, minimise disparities, and consolidate leadership in academic institutions.
