Global Workplace Learning and Professional Development (Experiential Learning)
Abstract
This chapter explores the evolving landscape of Global Workplace Learning and Professional Development, with a focus on the pivotal role of Experiential Learning in enhancing employee skills and organizational performance. As globalization and technological advancements continue to reshape the business environment, the need for effective professional development (PD) strategies has never been more critical. The chapter begins by defining global workplace learning and underscores its significance in maintaining a competitive edge. It introduces experiential learning as a key method for professional development, grounded in Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory (ELT), which is elaborated upon in the theoretical framework. The chapter then examines the application of ELT in diverse workplace settings, illustrating how global organizations utilize experiential learning to foster employee competencies.
