Fostering Emotional Intelligence for Classroom Behavior Management
Abstract
Classroom behavior management and conflict resolution are essential components of creating a healthy learning environment. The study hereunder presents some strategies to promote positive behavior and conflict resolution among teens based on evidence-based practices and current trends in the field. Based on data collection from 561 youths aged between 11 and 17, the study examines the effects of school violence, school climate, conflict resolution styles, empathy, social skills, and active listening on classroom functioning. Through use of validated self-report measures, the study reveals the role of proactive behavior management practices such as positive behavior interventions, peer mediation, restorative practices, and emotional intelligence programs to promoting a positive learning environment. The study suggests that the integration of explicit expectations, supportive relationships, and the development of conflict resolution skills can dramatically reduce disruptive behaviors and enhance student engagement.
