Abstract
Renewable energy from solar, wind, water, and geothermal sources offers sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels, addressing climate change, pollution, and energy insecurity. India, with vast energy needs and resources, is a global leader in adopting renewable energy. Community-led initiatives empower rural communities, fostering equitable energy transitions, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. This paper analyzes renewable energy adoption in rural India, critiques community participation, and evaluates outcomes through case studies from Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Kerala. While challenges like costs, technical issues, and regulations persist, financial incentives, supportive policies, and capacity-building can position India as a global model for citizen-driven sustainable energy.
