Abstract
This study examines the growing global challenge of electronic waste (e-waste), driven by shorter product life cycles and technological advancements. E-waste, a major source of contaminants and valuable materials, requires proper recycling and disposal. Despite efforts by developed nations, such as the Group of Seven (G7) countries' Reuse, Recycling, and Recovery (3Rs) program, the high cost of recycling has led to the transfer of e-waste to developing nations with inadequate recycling infrastructure and weak regulatory enforcement. This research focuses on identifying and analyzing the interactive barriers faced by local governments and e-waste recycling businesses in both industrialized and developing countries. It emphasizes the direct and indirect impacts of these barriers on sustainable e-waste management practices. While prior studies have addressed individual barriers, this study explores how they interact and the aggregate effect of these interactions on long-term sustainability.
