Building Emotional Intelligence in P-12 Students: Strategies for Recognizing and Managing Emotions
Abstract
This study investigates the integration of Emotional Intelligence (EI) within educational frameworks and its profound implications for shaping future leaders. Recognizing the increasing need for emotional competence in both personal and professional domains, the research examines the impact of EI programs on students' emotional, social, and academic development. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, data was collected through quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews across multiple school districts. The findings underscore the importance of embedding EI into curricula, highlighting the benefits of enhancing emotional awareness, empathy, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills. The study identifies key strategies for successful implementation, such as teacher training, collaborative learning use, and family involvement. The results suggest that early EI development equips students with the necessary tools to navigate complex emotional landscapes, fostering resilient, empathetic leaders poised to excel in the 21st century.
