Abstract
This case discusses a situation where a government agency was tasked with the compilation of important economic data. Confused systems design, poorly trained workers, diminishing budget and obsolete standard operation procedures caused deterioration of data outputs. Questionable quality of the data products and different interpretations of information value threatened the future of the unit.
