Abstract

Rural tourism is vital for sustainable development and global destination marketing, offering travelers opportunities to explore local cultures and nature's beauty. It stimulates local economies by fostering infrastructure, jobs, and entrepreneurship, with a sustainability focus. Despite being in early stages in India, rural tourism benefits both tourists and locals. Post-COVID, there's increasing interest in rural destinations for peace and natural experiences. The chapter addresses challenges and solutions for sustaining rural tourism, drawing from qualitative analysis of secondary data sources. India's rural population and diverse experiences create substantial growth potential. Effective promotion is crucial for inclusive growth, job creation, and rural development while preserving the environment. Stakeholders must prioritize infrastructure, sanitation, and sustainable practices. The study aims to enhance various forms of rural tourism for economic, cultural, and rural development benefits.
