Abstract

Due to the lockdown and social distancing measures imposed by the Mauritian government in March 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in Mauritius necessitated the implementation of online learning/distance learning among secondary school pupils. However, both teachers and students expressed concern that they were unprepared for such an event and had never used online learning before. As a result, conducting research to capture students' experiences and opinions on online learning can help in understanding the challenges experienced by students and the many ways in which they might be better prepared if they face a similar circumstance in the future. The primary goals of this research are to examine students' perspectives on the transition from face-to-face to online learning, the difficulties that students encountered during online learning, the various aspects that students liked about online learning, and the ways in which schools could have made their online experience more fruitful.
