Radiological Assessment of Bilateral Occipital Lesions With Vasogenic Edema: A Meta Analysis
Abstract
This meta-analysis combines radiological and clinical information from 200 cases of seizure and unconsciousness patients, all of whom presented with bilateral occipital lesions with vasogenic edema on neuroimaging. The aim was to identify consistent diagnostic features indicative of metastatic brain disease and assess the role of multimodal imaging and multidisciplinary management in diagnosis and treatment. Data were derived from non-contrast CT, which consistently demonstrated ill-defined hyperdense lesions in the bilateral occipital lobes with extensive vasogenic edema extending to the frontoparietal, temporal, and occipital regions. Contrast-enhanced MRI imaging, DWI, and perfusion imaging were then performed to further delineate lesion vascularity and cellularity.
