Abstract

Nano-materials have emerged as a promising solution for wastewater treatment, offering enhanced efficiency in pollutant removal through advanced physicochemical mechanisms. Their high surface area, reactivity, and tunable properties enable superior removal of contaminants, including heavy metals, organic pollutants, pharmaceuticals, and microbial pathogens. Key mechanisms such as adsorption, photocatalysis, membrane filtration, electrochemical treatment, and antimicrobial action provide innovative pathways for wastewater purification. This chapter explores the recent developments, applications, and future prospects of nanomaterials in wastewater treatment, highlighting their transformative potential in addressing global water challenges.
