Conceptual Evolution of Business Organizations into Outsourcing-Insourcing Alliance Networks
Abstract
Most business organizations have recognized the importance of outsourcing information systems and related business processes. As the industry of outsourcing evolves it impacts how business organizations are structured. This chapter reviews current literature and proposes two possible evolutions of how businesses motivate organizations to incorporate outsourcing as an integral strategy for success. The resulting trends show an evolution that may lead hierarchal business structures to incorporate temporary outsourcing alliance networks in the same way that general contractors in the construction industry have operated for years.
