Abstract

Beyond the Screen: Cultivating Joy, Creativity, and Well-Being in Online Learning Environments explores the detrimental impact of stress on college students' mental health and academic performance. The chapter emphasizes the need to shift from traditional pedagogical approaches to a framework prioritizing student well-being. Seligman's PERMA model, encompassing positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment, is a foundation for incorporating positive psychology principles into the online classroom. Infusing playful pedagogy may positively benefit student engagement, student resilience, and the creation of a positive academic classroom culture. The chapter concludes with strategies to foster students' emotional, social, and academic growth.
