AI, Emotion, and Connection: Redefining Human Expression and Relationships in a Machine-Mediated World
Abstract
This chapter focuses on how technology affects emotions expressed in different environments and relationship building between different individuals. This section analyzes aspects such as affective computing, chatbots, and social platforms to establish how technology can recognize, enhance, and interpret emotions. This suggests that technology is being used to make people experience emotions. Although technology can effectively make communication between people easier, more personalized, and serve as emotional support, it can also cause issues such as over-reliance on technology for emotions, exposure to technology, and possible loss of emotions. As technology presents different ethical concerns regarding data, power, and fairness, it is essential to consider these aspects. Ultimately, creating a better connection in a world where AI surrounds us calls for a blending of new technology and human values to ensure that tools for emotion and building positive relationships are used to make a positive difference in life through a fair and inclusive process for future generations.
