Description

Transportation and logistics systems are undergoing a profound transformation driven by urgent global sustainability demands. Climate change, urban congestion, air pollution, energy inefficiency, and the need for inclusive mobility solutions have compelled policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to seek practical, scalable, and sustainable transportation strategies. Despite the significant theoretical progress in optimization techniques, simulation modeling, and decision-support systems, there remains a substantial gap between academic research outputs and real-world, operational applications.

Sustainable Solutions for Transportation and Logistics addresses the need for intersecting research and practice by focusing exclusively on real-world case studies where sustainable transportation and logistics solutions have been successfully deployed across various modes and regions. It documents how methodologies such as optimization-based decision-making, smart mobility, planning, public transportation scheduling, green logistics innovations, and urban freight solutions have been translated from models to operations, achieving measurable sustainability outcomes. Covering topics such as accessible transportation, flying cars, and autonomous vehicles, this book is an excellent resource for researchers, academic scholars, graduate and doctoral students, transportation authorities, urban planners, policymakers, technology developers, and more.
