Abstract

In this paper we will outline some issues and some requirements that the ICT management should have in order to manage ICT projects in healthcare. Healthcare markets are shifting toward a model of a network of loosely coupled entities. In such a scenario, the ICT managers are required to be able to deeper understand the specific domain where they operate and to address not only technological oriented issues but also to contribute to solve domain dependent challenges. Furthermore, in many ICT based projects, the main risk factors are not related to ICT. Poor management of such risks factors may cause failure or poor revenue. We will illustrate some risk factors not related to ICT, starting from a case study concerning a ICT project in a networked healthcare scenario; Afterward, we will outline some requirements that a project manager profile should have in order to manage appropriately ICT projects in healthcare.
