Abstract

This study explores global trends in public participation in development planning through a dual-methodological approach, combining Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Drawing on 95 high-quality articles from 2014 to 2024, it identifies key themes such as urban planning, local involvement, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, and the impact of public health crises like COVID-19. Geographically, research is concentrated in North America and Europe, with growing contributions from the Southern Hemisphere. The analysis highlights the multidisciplinary nature of public participation research, linking social, environmental, and energy studies. Findings emphasize the importance of inclusive, participatory approaches for sustainable development, offering insights for policymakers and practitioners. The study underscores the need for further exploration of emerging themes and innovative methodologies to address evolving global challenges in development planning
