Understanding the Research Process and Its Application in Educational Leadership and Management: Making Use of Ngulube's Research Model
Abstract
This literature-based study examines Ngulube's (2015) research process model in educational leadership and management. It aims to analyze how Ngulube's integrated approach—incorporating research paradigms, methodologies, designs, techniques, and ethical considerations—guides research design and execution. The study addresses challenges such as aligning paradigms with methodologies, overcoming methodological limitations, ensuring credible data collection, and navigating ethical issues. Findings suggest that Ngulube's model facilitates integrating diverse paradigms, including realism, pluralism, and constructivism, offering flexibility in research approaches like quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. The model emphasizes techniques like surveys, interviews, and observations, advocating for triangulation to enhance data validity. Recommendations include adopting an integrated, flexible approach to ensure comprehensive and credible research, encouraging methodological triangulation, and incorporating ethical guidelines to improve educational practices and policies.
