Abstract

This chapter explores the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in crisis management and disaster response amidst escalating global challenges. Beginning with an overview of traditional methods, it charts the progression to AI-driven solutions integrating machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision. Highlighting applications in early warning systems, real-time monitoring, and damage assessment, the chapter examines AI's impact across disaster phases: preparedness, crisis management, and recovery. Case studies illustrate AI's efficacy in earthquake, flood, and pandemic responses, while addressing ethical concerns of data privacy, security, and bias. Looking forward, the chapter discusses AI's synergy with IoT and blockchain, envisioning enhanced global resilience and a transformative future in crisis response.
