Abstract

The Leadership of College and University Presidents in Academy-Business Partnerships provides an historical perspective on the college and university presidency, which is a major actor for inter-organizational partnerships. The chapter considers a wide history of roles and expectations of higher education presidents. Leadership styles, job description expectations, and examples—both positive and negative—will be addressed with particular concern and attention relating to corporate U.S. America. Issues of risk management, trust, power, ethics, and cooperation are considered.
