The Holistic Approach to Learning Mathematics
Abstract
The chapter begins by exploring the holistic approach in teaching mathematics, highlighting its foundations, underlying educational philosophy, and key pedagogical principles. The importance of connecting mathematical concepts for deeper understanding is emphasized. Then, didactic strategies for teaching mathematical concepts globally are presented, including the integration of these concepts into the curriculum and effective teaching methods. The use of manipulative materials and practical experiences in mathematics learning is addressed, discussing their importance, appropriate selection, and creation of experiences to enhance learning. Additionally, the relationship between mathematics and other areas of the curriculum in early childhood education is examined, highlighting the interconnectedness of mathematics with other disciplines and the integration of mathematical concepts into interdisciplinary activities. Finally, conclusions are presented that synthesize the main points discussed in thechapter.
