Abstract
The transition to a carbon-neutral economy necessitates a shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, with hydrogen emerging as a promising solution due to its environmental benefits. Hydrogen-powered vehicles produce zero CO2 emissions, positioning hydrogen as a key player in decarbonizing the transportation sector and achieving net-zero goals. However, challenges in hydrogen generation, storage, and infrastructure development remain significant barriers to widespread adoption. This paper offers a comprehensive analysis of hydrogen storage technologies, including gaseous, liquid, and solid-state methods, while also focusing on porous media, which show great potential for enhanced storage capabilities. By summarizing recent advancements and examining various hydrogen storage systems, this research aims to support the growth of the hydrogen energy sector, ultimately contributing to sustainable development and addressing pressing energy challenges.
