Sustainable Universities to Promote Environmental Awareness in Higher Education Students in Mexico
Abstract
Sustainable universities are training centers that play an important role in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals from their triple mission: training, research and transfer of knowledge to society. The above seeks to promote greater environmental awareness in students who will apply all this knowledge and experiences in the world of work. Therefore, the objective of this chapter is to propose that universities incorporate sustainability to promote environmental awareness in higher education students in Mexico. The structure of the chapter is as follows: 1) Contextualize how universities have incorporated sustainability; 2) Identify in theory what is related to environmental awareness and its application in Higher Education institutions; 3) Formulate actions so that universities incorporate sustainability with the purpose of promoting environmental awareness in higher level students in Mexico
