Social Networks Privacy and Security Basics
Abstract
Social networking platforms have become an integral aspect of human life. While initially sharing text, photos, and messages, many individuals have now expanded their sharing to include the latest news and news-related images in the Media domain, question papers, assignments, and workshops in the Education domain, online surveys, marketing, and customer targeting in the Business domain, and jokes, music, and videos in the Entertainment domain. Undoubtedly, social networking media has become an integral part of the contemporary Internet culture, being extensively used by Internet users in various ways. Engaging in information sharing on social media platforms necessitates a significant level of security and privacy measures. Maintaining the confidentiality of users' information should be ensured. This chapter discusses social media privacy and security fundamentals.
