Self-Compassion for Student Wellbeing
Abstract
This qualitative study explores self-compassion dynamics among college students facing academic challenges. In-depth interviews with 20 participants unveil themes like integration into well-being, stress alleviation, and resilience building. Factors influencing self-compassion, such as positive role models and a supportive environment, are pivotal. Findings highlight positive outcomes on mental health—reduced anxiety and enhanced self-esteem. Challenges in sustaining self-compassion and cultural influences are explored. Insights into institutional contributions and the connection to life satisfaction offer implications for educational interventions.
