Abstract

The accelerating integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education is reshaping faculty roles and institutional strategies. Beyond basic tool use, faculty now require multidimensional competencies that include technical proficiency, pedagogical integration, ethical reasoning, and continuous professional growth. This chapter investigates how institutions can scale AI literacy effectively by addressing barriers such as lack of training, time constraints, infrastructural gaps, and policy ambiguity. Drawing on surveys, interviews, and policy analysis, it proposes sustainable models including progressive immersion, peer mentorship, and policy-driven innovation. International case studies demonstrate best practices in tiered learning, ethics integration, and community engagement. The chapter concludes with a phased roadmap and actionable recommendations for administrators, policymakers, and educators to foster systemic, equitable, and responsible AI literacy adoption.
