Qualitative Study to Explore the Nexus Between Diverse Ledership Styles and Employee Motivation
Abstract
The study attempts to draw the link between different styles of leadership adopted by managers in an organization and the motivation for work among employees. Researchers identified five types of leadership styles and argues their relative impact on strengthening or decreasing spirit and inspiration among the work force. The researcher also seeks to comprehend the meaning of both motivation and leadership aspect in the corporates and the links that can be formed between the same. The paper is a theoretical review of various relevant studies on the subject and draws inferences about the impact and consequences of leadership styles. Researchers find that leadership and motivation have a highly interactive relationship, and different leadership styles affect motivation among employees differently. The transactional leadership style gives employees tangible motivation to be committed to their work, while the visionary leadership style coupled with autocratic leadership fosters inspiration and motivation towards work.
