Abstract

This chapter delves into the potential of marine-derived terpenes as anti-cancer agents, emphasizing their structural diversity and unique therapeutic properties. By exploring the rich biodiversity of marine ecosystems, the chapter aims to uncover novel terpenoid compounds with promising anti-cancer activities. It systematically analyzes their chemical structures, mechanisms of action such as apoptosis induction, cell cycle arrest, inhibition of angiogenesis, and modulation of cancer-related signaling pathways and their specificity in targeting different cancer types. Additionally, it reviews preclinical and clinical studies to assess the translational potential of these compounds. The chapter aspires to highlight the significance of marine terpenes in drug discovery and cancer therapy, advocating for further research and development to improve cancer treatment outcomes.
