Mapping Virtual Learning in Distance Education: Review and Research Agenda
Abstract
Smart learning in virtual worlds refers to the use of virtual reality (VR) and other immersive technologies to enhance the learning experience. Smart learning in virtual worlds has the potential to revolutionize education and training by providing engaging, adaptive, and immersive experiences in various domains. For this study, the literature on smart learning in distance education has been mapped through Vosviewer. In this research, bibliometric visualizing methods are used with the help of Vosviewer to analyze the different outcomes. Co-occurrences of author keywords and bibliographic couplings of the countries, authors, journals, and institutions are depicted via the software. The initial search on Scopus was performed with “smart learning or virtual learning” and “distance education” which fetched 645 documents. Based on the language of the article, the authors found 587 articles which were published in English. The second basis was the source type that included Journal articles, conference proceedings and book chapters and the authors found 440 articles for the study.
