Abstract

Introduction to Actors in the Academy-Business Inter-Organizational Partnerships begins the conversation regarding behaviors of leaders and other actors in inter-organizational relationships. A literature review explores organizational and leadership theories. Specifically, the Academy-Business Inter-Organizational Partnerships Typology (ABIOPT) model will be revisited and identify various actors in each sector. An overview of public vs. private higher education is expressed to characterize differences and similarities. A conceptual organizer for the remaining chapters is provided. Issues of risk management, trust, power, ethics, and cooperation are introduced and explored in subsequent chapters.
