Abstract

Education is usually thought of as an entity project, a machine in which individual components can be easily replaced and what works effectively tested empirically. In this chapter, the authors first focus on the Cynefin model, typically used in management (applications in education also exist) to model four basic classes of situations. The conceptual framework shows that the growth of dynamism and complexity leads to the need to focus education on the competencies associated with complex situations. In the second part, the authors try to show what such a conception means for education. The last part of the chapter completes the reflections on inauthenticity and offers their practical educational implications. It argues in favor of the thesis that the current effectiveness of the educational process is realized at the expense of experienced meaningfulness and adequacy in a world that has moved too far away from isolated entities.
