Abstract

The persistent increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from traditional fossil fuel-based energy production methods has led to significant environmental challenges, including climate change, ocean acidification, and biodiversity loss. This review examines the detrimental effects of CO2 on the environment and human health, highlighting the urgent need for a transition to cleaner energy sources. It explores the limitations of conventional energy systems and the ongoing efforts to adopt more sustainable practices. In this context, green hydrogen emerges as a promising alternative. Produced through water electrolysis using renewable energy, green hydrogen offers a clean and sustainable solution to reduce CO2 emissions across various sectors, including transportation, industry, and energy.
