Fundamental Motor Skills in Early Childhood
Abstract
The second chapter of the book focuses on the development of fundamental motor skills in childhood, highlighting their relevance for the child's comprehensive growth. Throughout the text, it defines what motor skills are, how they are classified, and their importance in physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. The chapter emphasizes that these skills, such as running, jumping, or manipulating objects, are acquired through play and interaction with the environment. In addition, scientific evidence is presented that links motor development with improvements in cognitive areas, such as language and attention. Finally, the text highlights the importance of working on these skills from early childhood to optimize the child's overall development and pave the way for future learning.
