Abstract
This chapter focuses on the impact, opportunity, and challenges that Fintech has brought to SMBs, which are essential players in global economies but have always struggled to secure conventional funds. The development of Fintech has served up such innovations as mobile payments, online lending, cloud-based accounting, and crowdfunding that can reduce such costs of transactions, access to credit, and financial management for SMBs. The chapter covers Fintech success stories like Square, M-Pesa, and Alipay. It looks into more potential advantages of the Fintech movement, both in the short and long run, including the potential for cost reductions and further encroachment of artificial intelligence into the domain of financial decision-making. It also addresses issues of data privacy, fraud control, and the need for digitization competence. The paper concludes with specific recommendations based on the findings for improvements in SMBs and provides suggestions for researchers and policymakers.
