Abstract

Sustainable website design is crucial today, given the growing concern for environmental impact. The website contents and energy consumption relation are the outcome of this research work. Internet users access the website on personal computers or handheld devices. The energy consumption varies at the user device due to the various elements of the website. The website design for increase in profit and ignorance towards energy consumption requires awareness. This work analyses the various contents on the webpage and its relation. This research work is to find out whether the UI design principle of 60-30-10 rule is followed or not. Another contribution of the work is to find energy consumption due to the color combination, image format, and font style of the webpage. The chapter will investigate the responsiveness and accessibility of the website in correlation with the energy consumption due to the various elements of the webpage. This chapter will establish guidelines for sustainable and energy efficient webpages.
