Abstract
Rural communities face particular difficulties in managing solid waste because of inadequate infrastructure, tight budgets, and poor public awareness. Open dumping, burning, composting, recycling, and feeding animals are common practices. Open burning and dumping are economical but have serious health and environmental risks. Vermicomposting and composting provide environmentally friendly ways to dispose of organic waste, but they also need for community support and careful management. Reuse and recycling lessen the load on landfills, however they have challenges because of inadequate infrastructure. A multifaceted strategy is required to address these issues, including adopting cutting-edge technologies, regulatory reforms, infrastructural investment, and community education to promote sustainable waste management practices in rural areas.
