Abstract

Against the background of effective Computer Science Education (CSE) in Kindergarten/Grade R-12 classrooms, the purpose of this chapter is to specifically investigate effective Information Technology (IT) education in grade 10-12 classrooms in South Africa, where the subject IT is offered in the Further Education and Training (FET) phase. As such, the chapter will e.g., provide an introduction to Computer Science in R-12 education, as well as effective teaching approaches and strategies in the South African context.
