Do Financial Well-Being and Quality of Life Affect per Capita Productivity?: A Cross-Country Empirical Study
Abstract
This research work delves at exploring the effects of the financial soundness and quality of life on Per capita productivity (PCP) in the times of waning productivity across the globe – and especially, the developed countries. Based on the two major pillars of Financial Soundness and Quality of Life (FSQL), the Financial Soundness and Quality of Life Index (FSQLI) [Base Year: 2006 = 100] has been formulated to evaluate its impact on Per capita productivity in a macroeconomic perspective. In order to fulfil the objective mentioned above, a time series study of 12 years (2007 – 2018) had been conducted for seven sample countries and the derived statistical results and findings exhibited that for 6 out of 7 sample countries, FSQLI had a strong positive causal effect on per capita productivity. In other words, financial wellbeing and quality of life combinedly acts as one of the major significant factors (if not the most) that helps to appreciate the level of PCP across demographical regions of the world.
