Abstract

This chapter focuses on solutions of linear ordinary differential equations with order one and two. After introducing some basic concepts of ordinary differential equations, we discuss some methods to solve different types of such equations. We apply these methods to solve several problems we encounter in science. To avoid power series methods to solve linear ordinary differential equations, a further analytical method will be offered to solve such equations. We also introduced difference equations and defined some concepts similar to linear ordinary differential equations. After introducing a couple of methods to solve them, we use these methods to solve some applicable problems with discrete variables.
