Abstract
Creating a resilient workforce; ensuring the wellbeing of leaders, managers, and employees, and having wellness prevail both at work and at home is undeniably desirable for employers. But the sensitivity and scientific rigour required in developing psychometric assessments to measure such constructs in the workplace does not make this an easy everyday task. Nevertheless, the research process we used in developing a wellbeing psychometric assessment - for the UAE, in the UAE - was outlined, and practicalities to keep in mind, plus practical lessons learnt in each step, was shared too. So yes, definitely: rather use a psychometric assessment specifically developed for the purpose and population you intend to use it in, and of course the age-old adage stands ‘…what gets measured, gets done…', and therefore happy measuring and managing!
