Blockchain-Based Knowledge Management System: Theory and Applications
Abstract
Blockchain technology has become a prominent trend in both academia and the IT sector. Initially introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 as the core technology for Bitcoin, it aimed to create a secure, decentralized platform for financial transactions. The blockchain concept gained traction with Bitcoin's rise and is now seen as a transformative innovation. Its applications extend to various fields such as banking, healthcare, education, IoT, and cryptography. Blockchain is valued for addressing inefficiencies in traditional systems by offering enhanced security, transparency, and data integrity. This chapter explores how blockchain can enhance knowledge management systems (KMSs) by improving data repositories, collaboration, peer review, intellectual property management and so on. It aims to showcase blockchain's potential to revolutionize these systems.
