Abstract
Artificial intelligence is transforming the legal landscape by enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and fairness in the justice delivery system. This chapter examines the role of AI in reinforcing the rule of law, with particular attention to legal research, judicial decision-making, case management, and dispute resolution. From predictive analytics to legal chatbots to smart contracts, AI-driven tools are revolutionizing legal frameworks, speeding case processing, and reducing human bias. But AI in law also raises ethical challenges algorithmic bias, transparency issues, and data privacy concerns. Through real-world case studies from the United States, the European Union, India, and China, this chapter explores the implications of AI applications in legal governance. It highlights global initiatives to govern the role of AI technology in courts and suggests design principles for responsible AI-aided legal progress.
